The Rotary Clubs of Thessaloniki Awarded the World Champion “INFINITE RACING” Team

In the 65th ceremony of the "Benefaction Awards" on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at The MET hotel in Thessaloniki, Mandoulides Schools’ INFINITE RACING team was awarded for winning the first place among 39 competing teams from 23 countries in "F1 in Schools World Finals 2016", held in Austin, Texas, USA in October 2016.

Apart from the first place in the world and the prestigious Bernie Ecclestone World Champions Trophy, our school team was the first Greek team in fifteen-year history of the competition that went up on the podium. They raised the Greek flag up on the highest mast, with the team from Australia coming in second and the team from Germany in third place, thus proving that team spirit and commitment to the goal can bring out excellent results in demanding projects worldwide, even from students - a positive message to the young generation of our country.

For all the above, the Rotary Clubs of Thessaloniki presented our team with the Benefaction Public Praise Award.

The team, coordinated by Physics teacher and Senior High Vice Principal of the Schools, I. Ntaountakis, consisted of students: C. Kalfas (12th Grade), S. Mavromatis (11th Grade), K. Theofanidis (11th Grade), V. Niavi (graduate and first-year student at the department of Mechanical Engineering, AUTH), and A. Samara (10th Grade). In the national contest, A. Lamprianidis, I. Liakou, S. Sarra and N. Tsoukali, all students of 11th Grade, formed part of the team as well.
