For yet another year, Madoulides Schools participated in the Computer Science Education Week, which took place from 3 to 9 December all over the world. Tens of millions of students from over 180 countries take part in Hour of Code. It is an introduction to computer science and more specifically to programming specifically designed for children, which cultivates problem solving skills and develops creativity and logical thinking.

During Computer Science classes, students work either individually or in teams of two people on the computers of the labs in order to program and solve problems. The aim of the program is for students to realize that computer science is fun, creative and accessible to all ages.

The students of 1st and 2nd Grade programmed using the Kodable and Code.org educational platforms, while 3rd and 4th Grade students programmed characters of Minecraft and Star Wars and built their own games through the activities offered by Hour of Code.

Finally, the students of 5th Grade went on to build games using Mandoulides Kodu Lab program on the Microsoft Kodu platform while 6th Graders continued with Mandoulides Python BootCamp, a program which includes application programming using the Python language and takes place for the first time at Mandoulides Schools.
