Environmental Team on autumn excursion to the Dam of Thermi
Students of the Junior High School Environmental Team went on their well-established autumn excursion to the Dam of Thermi.
There they had the opportunity to observe and learn about the biology of various species of waterfowl and aquatic turtles. It is impressive that the turtles have not yet gone into hibernation owing to the unusually high temperatures of the season!
The students then conducted ecology experiments where they estimated primary production and the rate of ecosystem degradation. These experiments will be completed during the team’s next visit to the dam in spring.
