Mathematical Competitions of 2020, ‘Thales’ and ‘Little Thales’ by the HMS
The 81st Mathematical competition ‘Thales’ organised by the Hellenic Mathematical Society (HMS) and the competition ‘Little Thales’ organised by the branch of Central Macedonia of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, were held at Mandoulides Schools on Friday, November 6, 2020.
30 students from 8th Grade and 23 students from 9th Grade participated in the ‘Thales’ competition, and 25 students from 7th Grade participated in the ‘Little Thales’ competition.
Competitions were held during schools hours on the Junior-Senior High School premises. Directives and protective measures against Covid-19 set forth by the Ministry of Education and the National Agency of Public Health (EODY) were strictly complied.
According to the Hellenic Mathematical Society, ‘Thales’ and ‘Little Thales’ competitions will be repeated with different subjects by the HMS for all of Greece after the opening of the schools for:
- Senior High Schools of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki
- The Junior High School classes that are suspended due to COVID-19
- Students who are in close contact with confirmed COVID - 19 cases.
