« ...“…Your school was very well prepared for distance learning and we at Microsoft applaud it. You all showed perseverance in your school and with great energy you supported and still support distance and hybrid education. You are an example for all schools in Greece "
Our students meet the Microsoft Vice President of Education and talk about the future of education.
Every year students, educators and Microsoft Education executives meet from all over the world to talk about the future of education, to experience how technology can contribute to learning, but also to exchange views on the future of work at the Microsoft event called Global Learning Connection. Students of Mandoulides Junior and Senior High School (Microsoft Showcase School 2016 - 2021) had the unique opportunity to connect and chat withAntony Salcito, Microsoft Vice President of Education.
« ...“Basic skills of the future are cooperation, communication, critical thinking, creativity.”
The topic of the meeting was the skills of the future, necessary for all future professionals regardless of their field of specialization. Answering the questions of the students who followed the short presentation of our school, Antony Salcito emphasized the importance of acquiring future skills during basic education. Key skills of the future are collaboration, communication (remote or not), critical thinking, creativity, he said.Computational thinking and programming should also be added to the above. He went on to say that skills such as empathy, acceptance of diversity are also extremely important in the work of the future. Students must learn to take risks, be persistent, be able to come up with new ideas, and be able to build and maintain healthy relationships in their work environment. Acquiring all of these skills begins at school and students need to be aware of the skills they are acquiring and to know their strengths and always try to improve. "The use of the M365 ecosystem (Teams, Forms, SharePoint, etc.) which you use in your school every day helps to acquire and cultivate all these skills ", he emphasized.
« ..."You are lucky that so many amazing teachers support you."
Antony Salcito also stressed that the future of education is based not only on the integration of technology into the educational process, but also on the ways in which schools and teachers choose to do so. "You are lucky that so many amazing teachers support you. Your school was very well prepared for distance learning and we at Microsoft applaud it. Everyone in your school showed perseverance and you supported and still support distance and hybrid education with great energy. You are an example for all schools in Greece ", he stressed.
