Distinctions in the American Mathematical Society (AMC) International Competitions AMC 10B and AMC 12B

Την Τετάρτη, 10 Φεβρουαρίου 2021 24 μαθητές της Γ΄ Γυμνασίου και Α΄ Λυκείου των Εκπαιδευτηρίων Ε. Μαντουλίδη συμμετείχαν στον Διεθνή Διαγωνισμό AMC 10B της Αμερικάνικης Μαθηματικής Εταιρείας (MAA) και 6 μαθητές της Β΄ και Γ΄ Λυκείου στον Διεθνή Διαγωνισμό AMC 12B.

Distinctions in the American Mathematical Society (AMC) International Competitions AMC 10B and AMC 12B

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 24 students of Mandoulides Schools junior high school (9th grade)and senior high school (10th grade) participated in the American Mathematical Society International Competition AMC 10B and 6 students of the senior high school (11th and 12th grade) in the International competition AMC 12B. Due to the suspension of operation of all senior High Schools of the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, the students of grades 10th- 12th participated in the competitions through the applications of Ms Teams and Ms Forms. The students answered 25 multiple choice questions in 75 minutes.

The students who excelled in the AMC 10B competition are:

1st award: P. Liambas (10th grade)
2nd award: K. Konstantinidis (10th grade)
3rd award: A. Giannakis (9th grade)

The students who excelled in the AMC 12B competition are:

1st award: H. Karafillia (12th grade)
2nd award: A. Argyropoulos (11th grade)
3rd award: P. Tzartzi (11th grade)

The student named P. Liambas qualified for the next phase of the competition, American Invitational Mathematics Examination II (AIME II), which is taking place on Thursday, March 18, 2021, since he was ranked in the top 5% of participants worldwide.

This was the tenth year in a row that Mandoulides schools have taken part in the AMC competition.
