A Double Celebration equals to Double Joy in our Kindergarten

A Double Celebration equals to Double Joy in our Kindergarten

A Double celebration on March 25th!

Two brilliant, two bright, two "Hails!" are heard on this day!

It is the day we remember the joyous birth announcement of Christ, but also the beginning of the Greek revolution in 1821 after 400 years of slavery under the Turkish rule.

Especially this year, on the occasion of the 200-year anniversary from the day Greece raised the banner of independence in Agia Lavra (Holy Lavra) in 1821, our Kindergarten students dedicated most of their activities to these two important anniversaries.

Our little "Greek Students" through stories, paintings and virtual tours learned about the struggles of our nation; about the enormous difficulties and obstacles our ancestors had to overcome; about the incomparable courage and strength of our ancestors’ soul that made the few and strong heroes capable of raising their stature against the conqueror, worthy to face and finally strike against the Turkish garrison. Students imagined the position of the children of that time, who, despite the hardships, fought against "Master, Agha".

For those children, who eagerly walked through the night to go to their "secret schools", our students made their own "Letters and Studies", that is, their own banners and symbols. They also made flags, Tsoliadakia (Greek soldiers) and Ellinopoules (Greek girls). They completed their activities by recreating the heroes of the Greek revolution but also paying tribute to their own daily heroes.

On the day before the anniversary, with parades and poems, students proudly honored the glorious struggles of their ancestors for "Freedom or Death" and conveyed the double message: "Hail, Kecharitomene" and "Hail, oh hail liberty".

Τwo Annunciations, double freedom, double joy!
