5th place in Greece at the Online Competition “Best Promo Video of Students’ Virtual Enterprises 2021”
10th grade students, who were interested in waste management and the protection of the environment, founded their own virtual enterprise “Wastefree.” They managed to qualify for the final of the “1st Panhellenic Competition of Youth Entrepreneurship Oriented towards Sustainable Development” which was organized by Envolve Greece. Additionally, they took 5th place at the Online Competition “Best Promo Video of Students’ Virtual Enterprises 2021» of Junior Achievement Greece.
Students’ strong desire to contribute to the protection of the environment, in combination with their interest in the business world, were the determining factors for the founding of the virtual enterprise “Wastefree,” a contemporary business idea with a sense of social responsibility and anthropocentric orientation.
Wastefree is here to provide with the solution to the difficulties that Greece is facing, regarding the management of the really toxic liquid waste that is caused by the production and packaging of the olive, which is a fundamental Greek export product and it is significantly produced across the country, especially in Chalkidiki.
The students, exhibiting great enthusiasm and having teamwork and willingness to work as their powers, managed to employ an innovative waste processing method through their collaboration with distinguished scientists, while using exclusively recyclable materials in order for the further pollution of the environment to be avoided. So, after experiments and trials, through the method of electrocroccidosis, they achieved the effective management of this type of waste.
However, students’ business idea isn’t restricted only to these competitions. This is because they aim to realise it in the actual world and they are searching for pioneer ideas in relation to its further expansion, mainly on the principle of the protection of the environment.
