Metaxidou and A. Tzimka (8th grade), created the mobile application \u201cThess Sports 4all,\u201d which enables individuals with visual, hearing, and mobility impairments to locate accessible sports facilities in Thessaloniki using interacting maps.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, three school teams, consisting of six Junior and Senior High School students distinguished themselves in the final phase of the 7th Panhellenic Student Competition of Technology, \u201cHackathon SELMA Youth Contest 2024.\u201d With a focus on accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities, the team presented their ideas in English on Saturday October 12, 2024, at the Alkis Argyriadis Amphitheater of the University of Athens, as part of the International Conference on Social Pediatrics and Children\u2019s Rights.<\/p>\n<p>More specifically, the students who excelled in the final phase of the Panhellenic Competition Hackathon presented their projects in English during the International Conference on Social Pediatrics and Children\u2019s Rights, where they were evaluated by a jury.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the \u201cHackathon 2024 \u2013 SELMA\u201d competition is to create projects with the use of technology to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This year, each team was tasked with using technology in a positive way to promote the quality of life for people with disabilities as part of a strategy for Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>The teams and projects that excelled at the 7th Panhellenic Student Competition of Technology\u00a0 \u201cHackathon 2024 SELMA Youth Contest\u201d and participated in the final phase of the competition are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>1st place in the Website Development category<\/strong>: <em>Helping Hand<\/em>: Development of a website to promote the socialization of people with disabilities by D. Giannakidis, D. Leventis (10th grade)<\/li>\n<li><strong>1st place in the Mobile Application category<\/strong>: <em>Thess Sports 4all<\/em>: A mobile application that enables individuals with visual, hearing, and mobility impairments to locate accessible sports facilities in Thessaloniki using interacting maps by Th. Metaxidou, A. Tzimka (8th grade)<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd place in the Mobile Application category<\/strong>: <em>Silent Support<\/em>: Development of an application that converts speech to text (for the deaf) and sign language to speech (for the blind): Ch. Floros, M.
