2nd grade Learns About Greece\u2019s Wildlife<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2nd grade students had a unique experience as they welcomed a team of volunteers from the environmental organization Arkturos into their classrooms as part of the educational program Walking through the Forest. This program focuses on educating children about Greek wildlife and endangered forest animals.<\/p>\n

This initiative complemented the thematic unit on volunteering in the Skills Labs. Through interactive presentations, audiovisual materials, and discussions, the children learned about Greece\u2019s wild animals, including the brown bear, wolf, roe deer, and lynx.<\/p>\n

The Arkturos volunteers spoke to the students about the dangers these species face, the importance of protecting their natural habitats, and how each of us can contribute to their conservation. Through real-life examples and hands-on activities, the students discovered how they, too, can become young guardians of nature, fostering ecological awareness and respect for the environment.
\nFollowing the second graders\u2019 adoption of an injured shepherd dog a few months ago, this event further reinforced their awareness of local wildlife. Their enthusiastic participation in the interactive activities demonstrated that a love for nature begins with knowledge and awareness.<\/p>\n
