E. Mandoulides Schools participated in the First Aid Educational Program for schools \u201cKids save lives for schools\u201d.
\nThis is a Health Education program approved by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, and recommended by the World Health Organization (W.H.O) and the European Resuscitation Council (E.R.C). The program is organized and implemented by the humanitarian organization \u201dKids save lives\u201d.
\nAll students from 7th to 11th grade students participated in the program, which included:<\/p>\n
A 2-hour Webinar on First Aid via Webex (attended from the classrooms)
\nPractical training in basic life support skills (2 teaching hours per class)<\/p>\n
A practical training was conducted by Mrs. Despoina Ligoura in collaboration with the school\u2019s PE teacher and with the assistance of certified students First Aiders (most notably A. Makedou, A. Zahou and S. Kisoglou).
\nStudents were trained in the following skills:
\nRecognition of cardiac arrest victims
\nChecking responsiveness
\nChecking breathing
\nCalling emergency services 112\/166
\nCardiopulmonary resuscitation (KARPA)
\nRecovery\/ Safe side position
\nForeign body airway obstruction (choking)<\/p>\n
