The sixth-grade students participated in the program: <\/span>“The First After the First: A Walk Through Byzantine Thessaloniki”<\/span><\/i>, organized by the team of guides from Dot2Dot. The children explored Thessaloniki during the Byzantine era, strolling through the streets and alleys of the Upper Town, discovering Byzantine monuments that have stood the test of time and remind us of the city’s significant past.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The walls and towers that once protected the city, churches and monasteries like the Vlatadon Monastery and the Church of Hosios David with its unique mosaic, were some of the sights that captivated their attention.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, places of faith and daily life, such as the Byzantine bath \u2014 the only one preserved to this day \u2014 brought the young explorers closer to the everyday habits of people from another era, leaving them both moved and impressed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through storytelling and games, the children had the chance to discover that within Thessaloniki\u2019s modern urban fabric, living elements of both the Byzantine and Ottoman periods still remain \u2014 elements that shape the unique character of our city.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n \n<\/svg>picture gallery<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>
