With great emotion and an impressive turnout of students, athletes, parents, and state representatives, the commemorative event for the \u201creturn\u201d of the team that won the Silver Medal at the 2005 World School Basketball Championship for High School Boys in Poland took place at the\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools Cultural & Athletic Center.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The historic team, which represented Greece and achieved a remarkable international distinction, returned to its home court to face today\u2019s\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools basketball team in a symbolic game that highlighted continuity, memory, and the future of school athletics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was held as part of Founder\u2019s Day, honoring Evangelos\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0and his contribution to education and sports. His vision of connecting academic learning with athletics,\u00a0and his passion for basketball,\u00a0was a central theme of the celebration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A particularly moving moment was the recognition of the 2005\u00a0team\u2019s\u00a0athletes and\u00a0coach, in the presence of their parents, who recalled their children\u2019s school years with nostalgia and emotion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was curated and presented by Dr.\u00a0Aspa\u00a0Chasioti<\/strong>, General Academic Director of\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Greetings were delivered by Mr. David Fitzgerald, CEO of Dukes Education Europe, and Ms. Aikaterini\u00a0Mandoulidou. A special highlight was the address by Nikos Zisis, former international basketball\u00a0player\u00a0and General Manager of the Greek National Team, who is also\u00a0an alumnus\u00a0of\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools and a member of the school team that won the Gold Medal in Israel in 1999. Mr. Efthymios Chasiotis, Head of Athletics at\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools, also spoke, reflecting on that historic era and the invaluable legacy of Evangelos\u00a0Mandoulidis, emphasizing the importance of values, education, and sports in shaping young people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The athletes and coach of the 2005 team were honored by David Fitzgerald<\/strong>, CEO of Dukes Education Europe, together with Aikaterini\u00a0Mandoulidou<\/strong>,\u00a0Aspa\u00a0Chasioti<\/strong>, and Lila\u00a0Toutountzi<\/strong>, General Director of\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among those present were Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki Mr. Dimitris\u00a0Kouvelas, Head of the Prime Minister\u2019s Office in Thessaloniki Mr. Giannis Papageorgiou, Deputy Regional Governor for Extroversion and former basketball player Mr. Branislav (Bane)\u00a0Prelevi\u0107, Deputy Regional Governor for Culture & Sports Mr. Christos\u00a0Mittas, Deputy Mayor for Sports, Youth, and Volunteering of the Municipality of Thessaloniki Ms. Kyriaki\u00a0Giannakidou, journalist and author Mr. Kostas\u00a0Mpliatkas, as well as renowned basketball coach Mr. Theodoros\u00a0Rodopoulos\u00a0and Mr. Nikolaos\u00a0Kerameas, Head of the\u00a0Mandoulides\u00a0Schools Basketball Academy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event also had a social dimension, as essential goods were collected for the Center for People with Disabilities \u201cO Sotir,\u201d reinforcing the message of solidarity and community support. Representatives of the Center, including its President Ms. Rania Liakopoulou, were also in attendance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The indoor court was filled with students and young athletes, who had the opportunity to meet the protagonists of a major achievement\u2014on a day that proved how dreams can continue to inspire future generations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
