A significant distinction was\u00a0achieved\u00a0by the Junior High School Chess Team of our Schools, which won 5th place at the 23rd Panhellenic School Team Chess Championship 2026. The team consists of the students: I.\u00a0Deves, F.\u00a0Nikakis\u00a0(Grade 7), N. Adamopoulou, K.\u00a0Misios, D. Charalampidis (Grade 8), A.\u00a0Nikaki\u00a0(Grade 9).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The High School team was also distinguished in its category, securing 9th place in the Panhellenic Championship. The team consists of: V. Bekiaris, E.\u00a0Sikalidou, M.-K.\u00a0Skodra, and O.\u00a0Chasioti\u00a0(Grade 10),\u00a0Elp.\u00a0Sikalidou\u00a0(Grade 11).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Panhellenic Team Championship took place on Saturday, May 2, in our city, at Pavilion 6 of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). In the same venue, the following day, the 37th Panhellenic Individual Championship was held.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Individual Championship, distinctions were achieved\u00a0by: \u2022\u00a0<\/span>F.\u00a0Nikakis\u00a0(Grade 7)<\/span><\/b>, who placed 9th in his category, and \u2022\u00a0<\/span>N. Adamopoulou (Grade 8)<\/span><\/b>, who ranked 5th among the girls in her category.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the second consecutive year,\u00a0and after\u00a0nearly 25\u00a0years,\u00a0the Panhellenic School Chess Championships were hosted in Thessaloniki. This is the most important school event of the sport, which, in addition to the competitive part, was enriched with\u00a0numerous\u00a0parallel activities combining tradition and technology.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Panhellenic Championships, both Team and Individual, were organized by the Hellenic Chess Federation and the Chess Clubs Union of Thessaloniki\u00a0–\u00a0Chalkidiki\u00a0(ESSTh\u2013Ch).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that earlier this year, on March 21, 2026, our Junior High School team had won\u00a0<\/span>2nd place<\/span><\/b>, and our High School team\u00a0<\/span>1st place<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in their respective categories at the Thessaloniki\u00a0–\u00a0Chalkidiki\u00a0Regional School Team Chess Championship, held at the Cultural Center of our Schools in collaboration with\u00a0ESSTh\u2013Ch.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
