More than 90 Mandoulides Junior-Senior High School students participated as diplomats and volunteers in the 2nd Panhellenic United Nations Student Simulation “Students in the Role of Diplomats” for Human Rights, which was organized by the Social Cooperative Company ROI and hosted by our school from Friday, December 15th to Sunday, December 17th. At the opening ceremony, which was presented by Mr. Alexis Kostalas, the General Director of the Schools, Mrs. Aspa Hasioti, USA Consul General Mrs. Rebecca Fong, Professor of International Law Dr. Paraskevi Naskou-Perraki and Mr. Dimitris Fatouros, Communication Officer for Greece and Cyprus United Nations Regional Information Centre, all greeted the conference. During the ceremony, Zografeio Gymnasio – Lykeio and the “Lighthouse of the World” were honored.<\/p>\n

Both students-diplomats and volunteers were made aware of issues related to the protection and defense of human rights and were familiarized with the implementation of the relevant UN International Conventions. As representatives of countries, they defended human rights, according to their own country, accepted and respected the arguments and views of other states, and developed the appropriate arguments in order to convince them of their positions.<\/p>\n

On the last day of the Conference the Committees’ decisions were presented and the best diplomats were awarded. Our students’ distinctions were as follows:<\/p>\n
