Simulation of European Parliament Plenary Session\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Mandoulides Schools<\/a> beacme a European Parliament Plenary room on 16 and 17 January, 2020 as over 200 10th and 11th Grade students from 13 schools of Greece and the Diaspora took part in the 4th Simulation of European Parliament Plenary Session in an atmosphere with a strong spirit of cooperation and unique moments of creativity.<\/p>\n

The event was organized by Mandoulides Schools with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs<\/a> and the support of the European Parliament Office in Greece<\/a>, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece<\/a> and the Europe Direct Information Center<\/a>, Europe Direct – KEDITH.<\/p>\n

During the plenary, the students were divided into eight committees (Environment, Public Health and Food Safety – Culture and Education – Human Rights – Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs – Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Opportunities – Transport and Tourism – Industry, Research and Energy – Employment and Social Affairs).<\/p>\n

With the guidance and suggestions of the Chairs of each committee, the majority of whom were lawyers, philologists, undergraduate and postgraduate students of Law School, as well as the helpful contribution of the Vice Chairs, the students had the unique opportunity to be informed, exchange views, reflect, propose resolutions and provide solutions to current issues of global interest. The ability to convince, the strength of arguments and the power of speech provided students with the opportunity to present resolutions, defend them, rebut them, ask questions, give answers, summarize positions and finally vote on the final form of their resolutions at the plenary.<\/p>\n

The second day of the students\u2019 works was addressed by Dr. Charis Kountouros, Public Relations Officer of the European Parliament Office in Greece and Mrs. Chrysa Antoniou, Head of Europe Direct Information Center, Europe Direct – KEDITH.<\/p>\n

After the completion of the works, awards were presented to the students who excelled by Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, MP of Thessaloniki and General Secretary of New Democracy, Mr. Dimitris Kouvelas, MP of Thessaloniki, Mrs. Ioanna Spanou, Representative of the Mayor of Thessaloniki and Mr. Giannis Demirtzoglou, Principal of Zografeio Lykeio in Istanbul.<\/p>\n

On the initiative of the European Parliament Office, the students that excelled will attend EUROSCOLA<\/a>, which will take place in Strasbourg in May 2020 with the participation of 9,000 European students.<\/p>\n
