Much has been done in all areas. A lot has changed. Our country was liberated, stood on its own feet, claimed a better tomorrow. Our country traveled a long way with great achievements but also painful experiences. Our country pulled forward, fought, sacrificed, proved to be worthy of both a glorious present and a better future.

Anniversaries are always a good occasion to remember, to learn but also to reflect, to look for our new national narrative.

This anniversary, although celebrated under the heavy shadow of the pandemic, is an additional opportunity to see things again from the necessary distance, to strengthen our bonds, forming a new vision for the future, to move confidently into the third century of the Greek State’s history.

At E. Mandoulides Schools we saw the anniversary as an opportunity to learn but also to be inspired by history, to talk, to collaborate, to create.

Throughout the year we will organize activities dedicated to the 200th anniversary, always thinking about the future.

We will begin the events in the week of March 22 to March 26, 2021.

We will meet writers, historians and descendants of the fighters.

We will talk about people, personalities, events and achievements.

We will “visit” museums and be guided to anniversary exhibitions.

We will research, we will create, we will celebrate.

We will turn history into experience and practice.

Each class will meet with a writer according to the program.

In addition, on Tuesday, March 23, at 13:30, the students of the 3rd Grade of Junior High School and the 1st Grade of Senior High School will meet through Zoom with Mr. Stefanos – Nikitas Stamatelopoulos, a descendant of the fighter of ’21 Nikitas Stamatelopoulos, known to all as Nikitaras.

(c) Photo by Maria Kossifidou

t is definitely the occasion, because the reasons, to talk about this period, are many.
