Participation of Students in Summer Educational Programs Abroad

During the summer, students from the school had the opportunity to attend summer educational programs abroad. The students enriched their knowledge in subjects aligned with their interests and talents, broadened their academic horizons, and met peers from all over the world.  

The students who participated in these programs are: 

  • S.- M. Alexandris (11th grade)  

Study visit at Ms. Maria Spiraki’s office in the European Parliament, Brussels, Belgium. 

“My main responsibility was managing and categorizing the office’s emails. I also worked on research and the evaluation of two resolutions proposed by the MEP’s office, one of which was passed in the Plenary. Lastly, I became familiar with the organization and functioning of the European Parliament and the demands of an MEP’s role.”

Condé Nast College, Vogue Summer School, London, Great Britain  

“The program helped me gain valuable knowledge about product presentation and the creation of digital covers. I had the opportunity to oversee a photo shoot and presentation for a pair of shoes from a well-known company.” 

  • A. Vrettou (12th grade) 

University of St Andrews, Physical Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Scotland, Great Britain 

“The program gave me the opportunity to conduct interesting experiments in a lab, including working with liquid nitrogen, observing chemical reactions, and measuring distances with a laser.”   

  • L. Karageorgiou 

University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) – Online Program in Algorithmic and Combinatorial Thinking (PACT)  

“During the program, I explored areas of Computer Science and Mathematics that differ from competition subjects and are rapidly evolving as fields of research. As a member of the Advanced group, I gained experience in grading papers by correcting papers of Group I participants.” 

  • S. Kouvelas (11th grade) 

University of Cambridge, Oxbridge Cambridge Tradition, Engineering, Cambridge, Great Britain. 

“After learning the basic principles of Engineering, I collaborated with other students to construct a wooden bridge that supported a load of over 400 kg. Together with students from the Aerospace Engineering program, we built a rocket in a simulator, with the goal of successfully sending a Raver to planet Mars.”

University of Oxford, Oxbridge Oxford Tradition, Major: Medical Science; Minor: Biology of Disease, Oxford, Great Britain 

“During the program, I learned to perform three types of stitches, dissected a sheep’s heart, stitched a pig’s leg, and gained extensive knowledge about the human body.”

Trinity College Dublin, Walton International STEM Program, Dublin, Ireland  

“One of the activities I participated in involved the aerodynamics of airplanes and the factors that influence their movement.” 

  • P. Tsegelidis (11th grade) 

University of Cambridge, Oxbridge Cambridge Tradition, Business Management, Cambridge, Great Britain 

“This program gave me the opportunity to create a business venture with my classmates. I also learned how to evaluate a store and conducted an independent assessment of one we visited.”
