As part of International Children’s Book Day, 1stand2nd-grade students had the joy of welcoming author Elena Artzanidou to their school. The beloved writer presented her book “Flo’s Journey”, a touching fairytale about displacement and hope for a fresh start in life.
Through storytelling and an interactive discussion, the children embarked on a journey with Flo, a young girl forced to leave her homeland in search of a safe place to live. With warmth and simplicity, the author conveyed important messages about the power of hope, friendship, and embracing diversity.
Our young protagonists actively engaged in the event, expressing their thoughts and questions about Flo’s Journey. They even dedicated a song they had created-inspired by the book- to the author. This experience helped them better understand the difficulties faced by children who must leave their homes, while also highlighting the importance of solidarity and compassion in our lives.
Mrs. Artzanidou’s visit was a unique opportunity for the children to meet an author in person and appreciate the power of books in shaping values and emotions.
