On Tuesday, April 8, a very special musical event took place at the Theater of the Cultural Center of E. Mandoulides School.
Graduate Faidon Miliades, ΄05 returned to visit his beloved school. A devoted member of our orchestra during all his school years, he went on to pursue advanced violin studies in Greece and abroad. Today, he serves as concertmaster (first violin) of the Athens State Orchestra and also performs as a soloist in individual concerts. Following his recital in Thessaloniki the previous evening, he visited the school and performed for our 5th- 7th grade students!
He opened the event by playing the Nouvelle fantaisie sur «Faust», Op. 13, by P.d. Sarasate for violin and piano. Accompanying him on piano was the exceptional soloist Thodoris Iosifides, who honored us with his presence.
Mrs. A. Mantoulidou and Mrs. A. Chasioti warmly thanked Faidon and presented him a commemorative plaque.
Following the beautiful duet, Faidon Miliades performed with our school’s orchestra and choir, our musical “Ensemble Ichochromata” from Junior/Senior High School, which presented the repertoire they are preparing for the International Music Festival in Barcelona. The ensemble performed both international and Greek pieces.
The choir is taught and conducted by Eleni Theodoridou. The orchestra is under the direction of Giannis Polimeneris, who is also responsible for the orchestration and conducts the mixed ensemble.
The entire performance captivated students and attendees alike, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
