“A Child in Foodland” – 7th Grade at Aristotle University Farm

The students of 7th Grade visited the Aristotle University Farm on 31 January, 2020, and took part in the educational program “A Child in Foodland”.

As part of the program students were informed by postgraduate and doctoral students in agronomy about the individual food categories, the ecological impact of their consumption, the cultivation of plant or living organisms and of course the value of balanced nutrition.

Students also learned how to read correctly nutrition labels on foodstuffs while they participated in a laboratory exercise to determine the pH and detect the nutrients of main foods such as milk, egg, flour and potato.

Finally, they used microscopes to observe microorganisms in dairy products such as yogurt.
