The Basketball Academy’s New Year’s cake-cutting ceremony was held with great success and in a warm, festive atmosphere on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Cultural and Sports Center of the Schools.
The guest of honor was former international basketball player and now distinguished coach Giorgos Sigalas, who has offered—and continues to offer—so much to the sport. The honorary event was also attended by two of his former notable teammates, Giorgos Balogiannis and Nikos Bountouris, who were present to pay tribute to him and share moments and memories from their time together on the courts.
During the event, the Schools’ Junior High/High School team was also honored for its significant achievement in winning 1st place in the Eastern Thessaloniki School Championship and 2nd place in the Panhellenic School Championship during the previous school year. Their outstanding success confirmed to everyone, young and old alike, that systematic work and team spirit yield the best results and the greatest accomplishments.
The event took place in the presence of a large number of parents and friends of the Academy, who proudly applauded not only the honorees but also the Academy’s protagonists—its young athletes. The ceremony concluded with wishes for health, progress, and continued success.
