For the past two years, E. Mandoulides Schools have collaborated with the clothing recycling company TexCycle. As part of this collaboration, two special recycling bins have been installed: one at the High school premises and another at the Elementary- Kindergarten premises, where students, staff, and faculty deposit old clothes and shoes for recycling. This year, as a reciprocal gesture based on the quantity of recycled garments, TexCycle donated new clothing to an institution selected by the Schools: «The Smile of the Child».
On Thursday, November 21, the Environmental Team from the Junior High School visited «The Smile of the Child» premises in Foinikas, Thessaloniki. Together with TexCycle representatives, they donated a quantity of clothing, to meet the needs of the children residing there. During the visit, students learned about the history and diverse initiatives of «The Smile of the Child» and had the opportunity to ask questions. They also received further insight from TexCycle representatives regarding the specifics and importance of clothing recycling.
The Environmental Team returned to the High School deeply moved by the day’s experiences and with an even greater sense of social and environmental awareness.
