A significant distinction was achieved by the Junior High School Chess Team of our Schools, which won 5th place at the 23rd Panhellenic School Team Chess Championship 2026. The team consists of the students: I. Deves, F. Nikakis (Grade 7), N. Adamopoulou, K. Misios, D. Charalampidis (Grade 8), A. Nikaki (Grade 9).

The High School team was also distinguished in its category, securing 9th place in the Panhellenic Championship. The team consists of: V. Bekiaris, E. Sikalidou, M.-K. Skodra, and O. Chasioti (Grade 10), Elp. Sikalidou (Grade 11).

The Panhellenic Team Championship took place on Saturday, May 2, in our city, at Pavilion 6 of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). In the same venue, the following day, the 37th Panhellenic Individual Championship was held.

In the Individual Championship, distinctions were achieved by: • F. Nikakis (Grade 7), who placed 9th in his category, and • N. Adamopoulou (Grade 8), who ranked 5th among the girls in her category.

For the second consecutive year, and after nearly 25 years, the Panhellenic School Chess Championships were hosted in Thessaloniki. This is the most important school event of the sport, which, in addition to the competitive part, was enriched with numerous parallel activities combining tradition and technology.

The Panhellenic Championships, both Team and Individual, were organized by the Hellenic Chess Federation and the Chess Clubs Union of Thessaloniki – Chalkidiki (ESSTh–Ch).

It is worth noting that earlier this year, on March 21, 2026, our Junior High School team had won 2nd place, and our High School team 1st place in their respective categories at the Thessaloniki – Chalkidiki Regional School Team Chess Championship, held at the Cultural Center of our Schools in collaboration with ESSTh–Ch.

We congratulate our students on their achievements and wish them continued success in the future!
