Honorable distinction in the 1st Online Mathematical Festival for Students
Our student Μ. Μpellis (10th grade) earned an Honorable Distinction in the Mathematical Riddles Competition at the 1st Online Mathematical Festival for Students.
This year the 1st Online Mathematical Festival for Students took place online for the first time and the number of the participants was much higher than the expected. It should be mentioned that almost 20,000 students, and specifically 3,000 10th graders, took part in the solution of mathematical riddles.
The objective of the festival was for the students to alter their beliefs and their attitude towards learning and to realise that Maths isn’t a school subject which aims to the acquisition of rigid knowledge, but it is a field full of innovation, skills, creativity and expression of their own concerns.
Finally, it is noteworthy that Mr. Κonstantinos Daskalakis, professor at ΜΙΤ, and Mr. Αthanasios Fokas, professor at Cambridge University, were two of the speakers at the festival.
