Interdisciplinary week “A trip to the land of fairy tales with the jolly postman” (24/5 to 28/5)

Shortly after returning to their ordinary classes, the students of the Primary School participated in the Interdisciplinary Program entitled: “A trip to the land of fairy tales with the jolly postman”. Working all together, for a total of one week, the children accompanied the heroes, were involved in a series of imaginative activities and were taught the lessons of the traditional fairy tales: “The Adventures of Pinocchio”, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Little Red Riding Hood”. Showing love, respect and knowledge towards the creations of our popular culture, they were taught values that are especially important to their emotional intelligence.

More specifically, the children explored, organized and handled materials and knowledge, made innovative constructions and interpreted basic moral concepts (eg good and evil, lie and truth). They also traveled to major European capitals and their most famous monuments, became advertisers, buyers and sellers and had lots of fun playing games. In the end, they became writers, composing their own book based on all the material they created, the messages and emotions they gained, the beauty they experienced.

A moral beauty that coexists with the certainty of a happy outcome at the end of all fairy tales. After all, in difficult times, – just like now during the pandemic – who can better nurture the feelings of hopefulness and faith in life for our children? The question is not rhetorical. We all know that the answer is the fairy tales, because they can never be forgotten.
