#MathGirls – Α new Art & Science Days’ program

Today, September 9th, the #MathGirls program successfully concluded as part of the Art & Science Days.

The program was conceived and implemented by I. Zachou, a Grade 12 student at our school, who has earned numerous distinctions in Mathematics at both national and European level, most recently receiving an Honourable Mention at the 14th European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) in April 2025.

The aim of this new initiative was to inspire girls from Grade 7 (A’ Gymnasium) to Grade 10 (A’ Lyceum) to engage with Mathematics, explore the vast opportunities it offers, and recognize the historic contribution of women to the development of the mathematical sciences.

Participants had the opportunity to hear from:

  • Ms. Athina Kalampoka, MSc in Mathematics, General Secretary of the Hellenic Mathematical Society,
  • Ms. Irini Miliori, Mathematical Olympiad medalist and current student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
  • Ms. Christina Karafyllia, alumna of our school and current Physics student at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
