New Year Pie Cutting for Basketball Academy

On Sunday, February 11, 2018, the Cultural and Sports Center of the Schools filled with people and intense feelings on the occasion of the New Year Pie Cutting of the Basketball Academy.

Athletes and coaches of the Academy, relatives and friends of the Schools, as well as representatives of the state and the Basketball Federation honored the event with their presence and enjoyed moments of joy, pride and intense emotion.

With emotional words, the Head of MBA Basketball Academy, Mr. Dimitris Nikolaidis, referred to the Master and Man, Evangelos Mantoulidis, who created not only the Academy and the Basketball Team of Educational and Sports Association (MAS) “Evangelos Mandoulides” but also Mandoulides Schools Cultural and Sports Center, which he called “A Jewel”. At the he event “Evangelos Mandoulides” Educational and Sports Association honored international basketball player Nikos Hatzivrettas, for his great performance as an athlete and for his long, valuable contribution to sport.

Nikos Hatzivrettas is a Greek former international basketball player. Born in Thessaloniki, he begins his career in 1990. He plays with the colors of Aias Evosmou, Iraklis Thessalonikis, CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos and Aris.

Hatzivrettas was a member of the Eurobasket National Team of 2001, 2003 and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He was also a member of the Greek national team that won Eurobasket 2005, and next year he was a World Champion at the 2006 World Basketball Championship. He also played in Eurobasket 2007 where Greece won the 4th place. After the end of the small final, Hatzivrettas announced his retirement from the team. He palyed for Greece in 116 games and scored 712 points (average: 6.14).
