New year Pie Cutting for Volleyball and Soccer Academies

In an atmosphere of joy, satisfaction and optimism for the future, the New Year Pie Cutting for the Volleyball and Soccer Academies took place on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Mandoulides Schools Cultural and Sports Center hosted athletes, coaches, relatives and friends of the Academies, as well as representatives of the state and the Federation of Sports.

The event was honored by international footballer Zisis Vryzas, whom the Education and Sports Association “Evangelos Mandoulides” lauded for his contribution to sport.

Zisis Vryzas is a Greek international veteran footballer. He had a long career in Skoda Xanthi, PAOK and the Italian championship, while his most significant distinction was the conquest of Euro 2004 with Greece. Completing his career as a player, he has been in various positions in the management of PAOK, such as coach, CEO and president (twice).

He played with Greece for the first time on April 27, 1994 in the home friendly match against Saudi Arabia (5 – 1). He participated in a total of 68 matches and scored 9 times. His most important moment wearing the blue and white Greek shirt was the goal he scored in Euro 2004 against Russia, thus enabling Greece to make it to the quarterfinals. He celebrated a European Championship and was a key member of the Greek attackers, as he played in five out of six final matches.

What is more, with the National Armed Forces he won the 1997 Army Football World Cup in Tehran scoring two goals in the quarterfinals, in the winning match against Iraq with a score of 3 – 2.
