“Creating links: the European Union furthering international cooperation”

The Conference of the European Youth Parliament of Finland: Jyväskylä 2020 – Regional Session of EYP Finland was held from 13 to 15 November on the topic: “Creating links: The European Union furthering international cooperation”. The student K. Karagitsi (10th Grade) participated in the conference.

It was a conference that offered unique and invaluable experiences to all young people. Ninety (90) young people from Finland, Denmark, Belarus, Romania, Greece, Azerbaijan, Ireland, Estonia, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Ukraine, Russia and Slovenia participated. In just three days of constructive dialogue and socializing, they managed to lay the foundations for fruitful reflection, but also to recognize the need for compelling action.

The issues raised by the seven committees covered a wide range of issues facing Europe today, as they were related to environmental, political and social issues. More specifically, the need for equal representation of the two sexes in Parliament, the influence of technology in the workplace, the limited medical knowledge about the female body, the value of sex education in schools were discussed.

Other issues included the importance of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the situation in Belarus and the ever-increasing extinction of local dialects.
