E. Mandoulides Schools participated in the First Aid Educational Program for schools “Kids save lives for schools”.
This is a Health Education program approved by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, and recommended by the World Health Organization (W.H.O) and the European Resuscitation Council (E.R.C). The program is organized and implemented by the humanitarian organization ”Kids save lives”.
All students from 7th to 11th grade students participated in the program, which included:
A 2-hour Webinar on First Aid via Webex (attended from the classrooms)
Practical training in basic life support skills (2 teaching hours per class)
A practical training was conducted by Mrs. Despoina Ligoura in collaboration with the school’s PE teacher and with the assistance of certified students First Aiders (most notably A. Makedou, A. Zahou and S. Kisoglou).
Students were trained in the following skills:
Recognition of cardiac arrest victims
Checking responsiveness
Checking breathing
Calling emergency services 112/166
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (KARPA)
Recovery/ Safe side position
Foreign body airway obstruction (choking)
Through this program, once again, we are training our students in life-saving skills, shaping active and engaged citizens, and making our school community a safer place.
