Students of the 10th and 11th grade of the Schools presented their Case Studies Projects, at the Schools’ Cultural and Sports Center Theater. Case studies are plausible narratives containing a central scientific dilemma with various aspects, for which the answer is not obvious. Students thus learn through research to develop their critical thinking, to cultivate the ability to overcome business problems and of course the ability to effectively interact with their classmates.
Case studies are a method of teaching science, which has proven its worth in various universities abroad, starting with Harvard. Mandoulides Schools, in cooperation with the American educational organization StageLearn, pioneered the introduction of Case Studies in the curriculum and for the second year now, use Case Studies for the 10th and 11th grade Project course.
9th grade students of the Schools also attended the presentations, which dealt with current scientific issues. They, thus, gained new knowledge, had the opportunity to ask questions to older classmates and get a taste of the course, since they themselves would be invited in future to participate in it.
