The American Scholastic Mathematics Contest is organized by the American Scholastic Mathematics Association (ASMA) and takes place six times during the school year at the facilities of E. Mandoulides Schools. Students from both junior high school and high school may participate.
The contest lasts 35 minutes, and students are required to solve seven problems. The difficulty level corresponds to AMC 8 for 7th and 8th grade students (A and B Gymnasium), AMC 10 for 9th grade and 10th grade students (C Gymnasium and A Lyceum), and AMC 12 for 11th and 12th grade students (B and C Lyceum).
Participation in this contest gives students the opportunity to practice their mathematical skills and English, learn mathematical terminology in English, and enhance their résumés.
