School student administers First Aid in critical incident

Listen to this article

With great emotion and pride, we share an incident that reminds us how essential first aid education truly is.

Our student, Th. Zapris (Grade 12), trained through the “Kids Save Lives For Schools” first aid program implemented at our school for the fourth consecutive year, found himself witnessing a choking emergency in a dining establishment. With composure and immediate reaction, he applied the appropriate techniques and successfully assisted, restoring the breathing of the woman who was in danger.

This incident is proof that knowledge saves lives; when it is supported by training, repetition, and the cultivation of responsibility.

It is also important to note that, as part of the training offered at our school, student-trainers played an active role. After participating and distinguishing themselves in the 2023 Kids Save Lives student CPR competition, and following additional training, they contributed significantly to educating their classmates. The student-trainers are A. Zachos, S. Kisoglou, and A. Makedou (Grade 12).

As a school, we remain committed to investing in initiatives that equip our students with essential life skills.

Warm congratulations to our student for his composure and readiness.
