Mandoulides Schools, aiming at better adaptation, direct familiarization, creative activities and preparation for the new school year, await students in the Art & Science Days 2019 before the first bell rings on 11 September, 2019.
The programs are FREE for all Elementary, Junior High and Senior High School students of the city and Central Macedonia, both from public and private schools.
Art & Science Days include:
Mandoulides Computer Epathlon Camp, 2 – 3 September 2019 (for students of 4th to 9th Grade)
Through a variety of activities, students get acquainted with the secrets of programming and develop a creative relationship with the computer. They will create their own 3D games, solve puzzles through Hackathlon and explore the educational activities of Minecraft. They will also compose electronic music with image processing techniques and multimedia stories.
Mandoulides Programming Day, 4 September 2019 (for Junior-Senior High School students)
The program includes the following modules: Introduction to Programming, Variables, Operators, Sequence Structure, Selection Structure, Repetition Structure, Creation of Algorithms and Programs. Younger students learn to program in specially configured virtual microcosms, create virtual robots and solve playful problems. Older students are taught algorithms, ways to design and solve problems, and present their solutions in programming languages such as C and C ++.
Mandoulides Robotixlab Day, 9 September 2019 (for students of 5th – 9th Grade)
The program comprises three 60-minute workshops on cities of the future. Students are asked to think and combine digital manufacturing technology (3D design and 3D printing) and robotics with the Internet of Things (IoT) to create their future. The workshop is based on Robotixlab’s out-of-the-box learning method, where knowledge is experientially conceived through design, experimentation and testing in a repetitive design cycle of optimal solution approach.
Mathematical Games, 5 – 6 September 2019 (for students of 5th and 6th Grade)
The aim of the program is to guide and motivate children so that they can approach basic concepts of mathematics, combining knowledge with fun. Students are engaged in solving mathematical problems and puzzle games using playful and original experiential activities that help them to love Mathematics.
Mathematical Thinking and Logic, 2 – 6 September 2019 (for students of 8th – 12th Grade)
The Mathematical Thinking and Logic Week has been organized in the Schools for 14 years, with the participation of distinguished teachers, school counselors, representatives of the Hellenic Mathematical Society and Olympiad winners. It was an idea of the founder of the Schools, Evangelos Mantoulidis, and aims at the free preparation of junior and senior high school students of the city and the wider region of Central Macedonia for the demanding exams of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, the Balkan Olympiads and the International Olympiads of Mathematics.
Introduction to Mathematical Thinking and Logic, 5 – 6 Σεπτεμβρίου 2019 (for students of 7th Grade)
The aim of the program is to draw the attention of students who have an inclination to mathematics through carefully designed exercises, leading them to a meaningful understanding of mathematical concepts. It also aims to familiarize them with mathematical concepts that go beyond textbooks. The program includes: courses by school counselors, mathematical Olympiad winners and experienced mathematicians, a simulation of a Mathematical Society competition (excluding 7th Grade), awards for the distinguished students. The program is highly interesting and necessary for students who participated in competitions of the Mathematical Society.
The programs are offered to all the children of the city.
Inspired teachers and associates of the Schools educate, cultivate inclinations and interests, and highlight students’ skills.
