Summer Educational Program in Ipswich, UK and Paris, France

Mandoulides Schools’ summer program in the UK for 2014 took place in Ipswich, England and Paris, France this year, from July 10th to 22nd 2014. Students from the Elementary Shcool and Junior – Senior High School attended classes and took part in athletic and cultural activities at the Suffolk University campus in Ipswich, a city near Cambridge. Students also had the opportunity to visit Cambridge and to tour King’s College.

Moreover, students participated in full-day excursions in London, where they cruised the Thames, toured museums and landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Square, Covent Garden, British Museum), while, at the same time, they had the opportunity to enjoy the beloved musical “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” at the Royal Theater Drury Lane.

For the 2nd consecutive year, students had the opportunity to combine academics and entertainment by visiting two European countries and their famous capitals, London and Paris! Thus, after the conclusion of the educational program at the university and their visit in London, the students traveled on the Eurostar train, which, having crossed the underwater Channel Tunnel, led them to the city of lights, Paris. There, after mounting a tour bus accompanied by a guide they visited all the important attractions in Paris. They visited the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower, cruised the Seine and walked down the Champs-Elysées, ending their outing with a meal at the hip Hard Rock Café! This unforgettable journey couldn’t have ended but with a visit to the fairytale land of Disneyland Paris.

This educational trip to England and France enabled students to come into contact with both the English and French cultures, to find out a lot about tertiary education in both countries and to realize the usefulness as a European citizen of knowing 2 foreign languages.
