Based on our thematic unit “Polar Animals”, the Beatles had the unique opportunity to go on a virtual field trip to Europe’s largest outdoor penguin pool!
In our school’s Digital Classroom, we were linked online, through Skype, with the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland which has been working to promote the awareness and conservation of rare and endangered animals for over 100 years.
During our visit our students were able to watch the birds having fun in a beautiful scenery. They were introduced to the three species of penguins that live in the zoo and discussed their habitat and range. The Beatles also learned about penguin adaptations and flipper bands as well as their lifecycles and breeding.
Finally, we discussed conservation and how we can all contribute to the protection of our planet.
