Visit of Distinguished Mathematician Stefanos Aretakis

The distinguished Greek Mathematician Stefanos Aretakis visited E. Mandoulides Schools on Friday, May 9 and spoke to the students who excelled in the “Thales”, “Euclid”, and “Archimedes” mathematics competitions organized by the Hellenic Mathematical Society during the 2024 – 2025 school year. The students had the unique opportunity to engage in conversation with him and ask questions.   

Mr. Aretakis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto St. George and in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough. He is known for proving the “Aretakis instability theorem”, which is a subject of study in Physics. He has received numerous awards and honors.
