Visit of the Missionary House of St. Dionysius in Olympus at Mandoulides Schools

The act of giving to a fellow human is an experiential act of love, which creates abounding joy. This experience was conveyed to us by the Missionary House of St. Dionysius in Olympus, on Thursday, 11th April during its visit at Mandoulides Schools.

The 5th and 6th Grade students welcomed a four-member team of the Holy Monastery of St. Dionysius in Olympus led by Fr. Porfyrios, Protosyncellus of the Holy Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania, and Mr. Christos Itsios, member of the association, at the Cultural Centre of the Schools. Our guests talked with the students and presented to them a short documentary about the life of people in Tanzania and the missionary work carried out there by the members of the Orthodox mission and volunteers. Charity kitchens, drillings, medical care, and education are indicative examples of the missionary house’s actions for the people of this distant African country.

The Schools with the “Talking about Us” program and the Skills Workshops help develop empathy and the volunteering spirit. Therefore, the Mission’s example coincides with our goals for a society that promotes mutual aid and human equality. Upon this visit, our students are moving forward, more mature, and with concerns that will pave the way for creating the world we all dream of.
