Youngest soloist performs at Thessaloniki Concert Hall
The Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra (MOYSA) and the Rotonda String Ensemble played two of the greatest musical pieces at Thessaloniki Concert Hall in early November in a unique concert: Antonio Vivaldi “The 4 Seasons” and Astor Piazzolla “The 4 Seasons of Buenos Aires”. Mandoulides Schools 7th Grade student Athanasios Kyparos participated in this concert as a soloist.
Athanasios Kyparos was born in Thessaloniki in 2007. He began violin lessons at the age of 6 at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki and in 2018 he was admitted to the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He has performed as a soloist at Christmas concerts with the Young Talented Soloists at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.
In 2016 he received the 2nd Promising Young Artist Merit in the “Gina Bachauer – Scholarship Competition for Young Musicians”, in 2018 he was presented with the 2nd prize of the B1 category (up to 14 years of age) in the 41st Panhellenic Competition “Filonas” and in 2019 he won the 2nd Prize of the B Category (11 – 16 years old) in the 1st Panhellenic “Tasos Pappas” Music Competition. What is more, in 2017 and 2018 he won the 2nd place in the 3rd and 4th Panhellenic Junior-Senior High School Art Competition, as a member of Mandoulides “Echochromata” ensemble.
He has attended violin seminars with Georgios Demertzis (2017) and Haiou Meng (2018), seminars – workshops on conducting while he conducted the MOYSA wind (2017) and string (2017, 2018 and 2019) ensembles as part of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th MOYSA Summer Schools. He has been an active member of MOYSA since 2016, of the Thessaloniki State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and of Mandoulides Junior-Senior High School “Echochromata” ensemble, with which he has taken part in numerous concerts.
