On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Mandoulides Schools 10th-grade students visited the ophthalmology clinic Ophthalmica, a modern facility providing specialized healthcare services in the field of ophthalmology. The visit took place as part of the school’s Career Guidance program, as well as its Social Responsibility initiatives, aiming to offer students meaningful exposure to the fields of healthcare and service. As part of a volunteer initiative, the students delivered a significant quantity of used eyeglasses, actively contributing to social solidarity efforts.
During the visit, the president of the Orthodox External Mission Brotherhood, Mr. Ch. Metallidis, informed the students about the organization’s work, highlighting its contribution to supporting developing countries by providing eyeglasses to individuals without access to basic healthcare services. The students engaged actively, asking targeted questions and participating with interest in the discussion.
At the same time, they were given a tour of the clinic’s facilities and were briefed on its operations. Divided into groups, they took part in the process of sorting and preparing eyeglasses: they separated those suitable for use from the damaged ones, cleaned them, measured them using specialized optical equipment (a lensmeter), and placed them in protective cases for safe transport. Through this process, they contributed to a meaningful act of volunteerism and service.
