With smiles, emotion, and a touch of theatrical magic, the school year came to a close for the young students of the 1st grade of E. Mandoulides Schools. At the E. Mandoulides Schools’ Cultural Center, the young 1st-grade students presented in their own unique way the experiences, knowledge, and valuable memories they gained during their very first school year of Elementary School.

The farewell celebration was titled “An Adventure for Romeo”, inspired by the book of the same name by Maria Papagianni: a story about love, friendship, and collaboration, values that our young students not only learned about but truly lived throughout their daily school life.

With spontaneity, enthusiasm, and creative imagination, the children delivered an original theatrical performance, in which little Romeo, the book’s protagonist, searches for the magic of theater and finds it through his interaction with the students themselves. Without relying on elaborate sets and costumes, the performance overflowed with emotion, authenticity, and heartfelt expression. It was a celebration of the soul, a heartfelt offering.

The evening began energetically with a performance by the school’s cheerleading team, setting the rhythm and lifting the mood. This was followed by the Elementary School choir, who provided musical accompaniment for the theatrical scene and later performed songs by Manos Chatzidakis and Mikis Theodorakis.

The event was further enriched by the participation of the Elementary’s School Rhythmic Gymnastics club, made up of 4th-grade students, who presented a graceful movement piece, showcasing the talent and dedication nurtured at our school.

The true stars of the evening, however, as they rightly deserve, were the 1st grade students. With childlike innocence and devotion, they stole the show and won the audience’s warmest applause. They moved us, entertained us, and above all, reminded us just how important those first school steps are when they are guided by love, care, and inspiration.

The farewell celebration ended with a heartfelt wish for a carefree and joyful summer. A summer that will serve as a bridge to the many beautiful moments that await our children on their journey of learning and life.
