On the occasion of the celebration of March 25th, the 6th-grade students participated in an original experiential activity organized by the “AeliaPath” team, mentally traveling back to the era of 1821. Initially, each student created their own historical identity, adopting roles and professions inspired by the heroes of the Greek War of Independence.
They were then divided into groups and asked to solve riddles and coded messages in order to choose the most suitable location for the start of the struggle, between Dervenakia and Tripolitsa. The activity culminated in a “general assembly,” where students were surprised to discover that the information they each held differed. This led to an intense dialogue with conflicting arguments, recreating the real challenges of communication and collective decision-making during that turbulent historical period.
Through this creative and enjoyable experience, the students approached history in a hands-on way, while also developing their critical thinking and collaboration skills, honoring our national anniversary in a unique way.
