As part of the volunteer program Together for All, the first-grade students once again proved that love, generosity, and the spirit of collaboration know no age! Inspired by the Easter holidays, the children enthusiastically took on a special mission: to bake Easter cookies and sell them to support the girls living at the Thessaloniki Girls’ Orphanage, Melissa.
The initiative began through the active citizenship program, where the children learned about the purpose of the action and discussed the deeper meaning of giving and volunteering. Guided by their teachers, they put on their aprons and poured all their love and creativity into the dough. They kneaded, shaped, and baked traditional Easter cookies, then decorated them with icing and colorful candy sprinkles.
The preparation concluded with packaging the cookies into small bags, each adorned with colorful ribbons and handmade tags with Easter wishes. The classroom transformed into a joyful little workshop, where every child participated with enthusiasm and pride in their work.
The cookies were sold to students in the 5th and 6th grade, who warmly supported the initiative of their younger classmates. The money raised was used to purchase supermarket gift cards, which the children personally delivered to the Melissa Orphanage – an act of love and care. The amount raised was 1055Euro.
At the same time, as part of the STREAM STEPS educational program, the students dyed Easter eggs in an original way, using colored crepe paper and coffee filters. The result was impressive: colorful, unique eggs full of springtime cheer, which will also be gifted to the girls at Melissa.
The initiative was not only an act of charity, but also an invaluable life lesson for the children. They learned that through teamwork, creativity, and love, we can bring joy and support to those in need.
