This year’s celebration for the anniversary of October 28th, 1940, was held in an atmosphere of emotion and reflection on the values of freedom and national independence.
Junior High and Senior High School students gathered in the Gymnasium of the Cultural and Athletic Center of the School and initially participated in the artoklasia (blessing of the bread) in honor of the patron saint of Thessaloniki, Saint Demetrios. This was followed by the awarding of honors and prizes to students who excelled in their academic performance during the previous school year.
Next, the commemorative speech of the day was delivered. 10th graders took part in the event by reading testimonies of soldiers and presenting historical documents, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to defend our freedom and nation, while sending a powerful message of peace and solidarity.
