On Monday, May 4, 11thgrade students participated in the educational program “Freedom 250: American Leadership Inspires Future Leaders in Greece”, delivered by Mr. Ch. Aliprantis, Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations, and Ms. A. Zagora, advisor of the educational organization The Tipping Point. As part of the program, students discussed with the mentors the historical events that shaped the American Revolution and the timeless values it established, as well as how the ideological foundations of Ancient Greece and the Enlightenment inspired the U.S. Declaration of Independence, signed on July 4, 1776.

By bringing concrete examples from the modern world into the discussion, students understood how values and ideals rooted in the past continue to shape contemporary societies—societies whose survival depends on the active participation of all citizens.

On Tuesday, May 5, the program was also implemented at the 7th Vocational High School of Thessaloniki by U.S. Embassy alumnus Mr. D. Chatzakis and Ms. I. Koutsounanou, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate in Thessaloniki.
