Two Mandoulides Schools students achieved significant distinctions in this year’s Final 8 of the Rising Stars tournament.
More specifically, S. Gymnopoulos (12th Grade) was named MVP of the tournament, after an outstanding regular season. The dynamic guard stood out with his performances, averaging 30.8 points, 8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, earning the recognition of the coaches of the Final 8 teams.
At the same time, Th. Zachos (12th Grade) was distinguished for his defensive presence and was named Best Defender of the tournament, confirming his decisive contribution on the court.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the Final 8 also served as an important opportunity to promote the message against childhood obesity, as part of the National Initiative implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF. Throughout the event, athletes and coaches of the teams participating in the final phase actively supported the campaign, sending a strong message in favor of exercise, proper nutrition, and the adoption of healthy habits from a young age.
- Gymnopoulosstated: “Let’s all score together against childhood obesity by starting with small changes in our daily lives.”
Congratulations to both athletes for their effort, dedication, and these remarkable distinctions!
