Simulation of a European Parliament Plenary Session

250 students from Greece and the Greek Diaspora Envision the Future of Europe at Mandoulides Schools

For two days, the Theater of the Cultural and Sports Center of E. Mandoulides will transform into a European Parliament plenary hall as about 250 students from 26 High Schools across Greece and the Greek Diaspora participate in the European Parliament Plenary Session Simulation Program.

This program, organized for the eighth consecutive year by Mandoulides Schools, will take place on Thursday, January 16, and Friday, 17 January 2025, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and with the support of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Greece and the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.

12th General Lyceum of Thessaloniki, 1st General Lyceum of Alexandroupolis, 2nd General Lyceum of Giannitsa «Anna Komnini», 2nd General Lyceum of Eleutherio-Kordelio, 2nd General Lyceum of Sykies «Philippos», 2nd Experimental General Lyceum of Kilkis, 30th General Lyceum of Thessaloniki, 31st General Lyceum of Thessaloniki, 3rd General Lyceum of Alexandroupolis, 3rd General Lyceum of Kalamaria, 4th General Lyceum of Kalamaria, 5th General Lyceum of Kavala, General Lyceum of Doxato, General Lyceum of Soufli, General Lyceum of Spetses, General Lyceum of Chortiatis, Gymnasium with Lyceum Classes of Rizomata, Athena Schools, Avgoulea-Linardatou Schools, Mandoulides Schools, Mary N. Rapti Schools, N. Bakogiannis Schools, Zografeion Lyceum of Constantinople, Axion Lyceum, Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki, and Model General Lyceum of Agioi Anargiroi.

On the first day, Thursday, January 16, 2025, the Committee Sessions will take place, including Drafting Resolutions and Preparing Speech Texts. 

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Simulation of the European Parliament Plenary Session will take place from 09:30 a.m. until 16:30 p.m. Following the session, there will be an awards ceremony, where Members of the European Parliament, Members of the Hellenic Parliament, and the State Representatives will present awards to the students.

The Simulation Process involves the formation of 14 committees, each tasked with proposing a bill for voting and accepting amendments to specific articles from other committees. The goal is to create, through productive and constructive dialogue, 14 bills that address pressing issues, finalized through voting.

This initiative is part of Mandoulides Schools’ effort to equip students with meaningful knowledge and awareness of European issues while fostering their democratic sensibilities.
