A series of activities for students, educators, and parents
Recognizing the need for safe and responsible internet use among students and their parents, E. Mandoulides Schools organized a series of events titled: “Together on the Internet: Education and Protection in the Digital World”.
Through these initiatives, students, educators, and parents had the opportunity to understand both the opportunities and challenges of the internet, learn about safe internet and social media usage, and become familiar with the fundamental principles of online security.
More specifically, the following activities took place:
- Parents’ Schools, featuring speakers: Dr. Athanasios Dimitriadis, Digital Evidence Expert – Postdoctoral Researcher at CERTH, and Adjunct Lecturer in Computer and Network Security at the Open University of Cyprus, Elena Zaglaridou, Educational Programs Consultant at Microsoft for Greece, Cyprus, Malta and the Adriatic region, Achilleas Karapatakis, Lawyer Attorneys’ Union of Thessaloniki, holder of an LLM in International Commercial Law, certified mediator ADR-ODR International, and member of the research team at the National Law Institute Rythmisis and Ioannis Koziakis, Psychologist Μ.Sc, MBA, PhDc, Department of Prevention and Awareness for Children, Parents, and Educators (Smile of the Child).
- Interdisciplinary week for Elementary school students, as part of the World Safer Internet Day, featuring film screenings from the CINEDU platform, as well as educational workshops by the school’s Pedagogical and Psychological Support Team.
- Educational activities in collaboration with the Smile of the Child and Mr. Ioannis Koziakis, Psychologist Μ.Sc, MBA, PhDc, Department of Prevention and Awareness for Children, Parents, and Educators (Smile of the Child) who informed Junior High School students about the dangers of the internet and how to stay protected.
- Lecture by Mr. Chrisanthos Tzotzis, Officer of the Cybercrime Division of Northern Greece, titled “Safe Internet Browsing”. He answered students’ questions and highlighted the risks of internet use, helping them avoid online “traps”.
- Educational program for 9th-grade students. The children participated in an interactive session per class titled “DANGEROUS INTERNET CHALLENGES – FAKE NEWS”. The program was presented in the school library by Dr. Alexandros Myroforidis, researcher at the University of Western Macedonia and founder of GAMECRAFT, representing the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.
