As part of the continuous training and lifelong learning of the staff of the Schools, as well as the constant monitoring of developments in education, Mr. Panagiotis Giannopoulos, coordinator of the libraries of Mandoulides Schools, participated in the “School Libraries Forward” seminar on the effective utilization of the school libraries by the wider school community. The seminar was organized by Plato Schools and took place on their premises in Athens on Saturday, 9 February, 2019.

The seminar included speeches on issues such as the usefulness of the library in the educational process, the development of student’s reading skills, the effectiveness of reading e-books, the importance of expanding school libraries nationwide, and the invaluable contribution of the school library to the love of reading and to education that can eventually lead to the development of students’ critical thinking.

The Schools have always kept up with issues regarding the educational process and boast two libraries (Elementary and Junior-Senior High School), which are associated with a variety of educational methods and actions, such as book lending from pre-school age, visits from authors of children’s books and representatives of foreign universities, visits to various libraries, recommended readings for holiday periods at all levels, bibliographical support for student projects and subscriptions to prestigious magazines such as TIME and The Economist, while our main aim is to always enrich and upgrade our libraries.
